About The Arena Club

Discover The Arena Club, a welcoming local favorite located at 17 Central Circus, London NW4 3AS, United Kingdom. As a food blogger who spends a great deal of time exploring local dining experiences, I’m always drawn to places that feel authentic, community-driven, and confidently consistent. The Arena Club in London delivers exactly that-a relaxed yet polished restaurant that balances classic comfort with modern flair.

Often mentioned among the best restaurants in London for casual dining, The Arena Club stands out for its approachable menu and dependable quality. The cuisine leans toward contemporary British pub classics with subtle international influences, making it appealing to both locals and visitors. Prices are refreshingly reasonable for the area, with mains typically ranging from mid-range pub pricing, offering excellent value for portion size and presentation. The menu is thoughtfully structured, featuring hearty mains, lighter bites, and a rotating selection of seasonal specials.

Signature dishes are where The Arena Club truly shines. The Beer-Battered Fish and Chips arrives golden and crisp, with flaky cod and chunky chips that feel indulgent without being heavy. The Slow-Cooked Lamb Shank, another standout, is tender and rich, served with buttery mash and a deeply flavored jus. For something lighter, the Grilled Halloumi Salad combines sweet peppers, mixed leaves, and a tangy dressing that adds freshness and balance. Regulars also rave about the house-made desserts, especially the classic sticky toffee pudding, often described as “comfort food done right.”

Customer reviews frequently highlight the consistency and friendliness of the experience. One Google reviewer notes, “The Arena Club in London feels like our neighborhood living room-great food, welcoming staff, and no pretension.” Another mentions the attentive service, calling it “reliably warm and efficient, even during busy evenings.”

The space itself is relaxed and inviting, with warm wood tones, comfortable seating, and plenty of natural light during the day. In the evenings, the atmosphere shifts to cozy and social, making it ideal for both casual dinners and small gatherings. Amenities such as free Wi-Fi, outdoor seating in warmer months, and a family- and pet-friendly attitude add to its charm.

Overall, The Arena Club offers a dependable, well-rounded dining experience that prioritizes quality, comfort, and community. Whether you’re searching for a trusted local spot or exploring local dining experiences in the area, this London favorite is well worth a visit. Step inside, settle in, and enjoy food that feels familiar, satisfying, and genuinely well cared for.

"Came here this evening for my wife’s work do. The starters were superb the portions were really generous the variety here is really good with great vegetarian options in abundance. The various breads that came with the mains were also amazing everything was so fresh and tasty the main dishes were also great portion sizes , it all came at the same time not in shifts which I really hate especially when there’s lots of guests. The service from everyone was attentive and the beers were lovely and cold and reasonably priced unlike most overpriced pubs these days. Arena is definitely a restaurant I will come back to with friends and family. Seriously good Indian food"

"Today I had dinner with a friend of mine but I had no idea about the Arena restaurant. He said that its foods are very good. So I was a little sceptical but after eating the food I thought that the food was excellent and the food decoration was very good. The taste is very good, so I gave it a full five-star point because I have quality food."

"This is arguably my favourite local Indian and probably the best in Hendon. We have dined here, ordered takeaway and used for catering service. Location of the restaurant is literally next to the tube station. The portion size for starters and curry is extremely generous unlike other places. Pricing of the food is arguably better than most Indian restaurant around the area. So all round 5*."

"Experience a combination between Indian dining and a British sports bar; enjoy a selection of different Indian dishes whilst enjoying a craft beer such as neck oil (on draught). Right next to the station which is actually visible in the dining area, convenient if youre waiting for a train of even meeting colleagues. All in all its a decent venue once you look past the questionable entrance (which is literally a doorway with a downwards stairwell which is reminiscent of other establishments)."

"What a place! Completely unsuspecting, given that it's just a door next to Hendon Central Underground Station. Even the name on the front doesn't specify that it's a bona fide curry house. The only thing that gives it away is the delicious smells that emanates from the premises. I took my younger brother there to celebrate him completing his degree and we were both absolutely stunned with the service, the atmosphere and of course the food! I had the palak lamb and he had the chicken madras. Each bite was a deep explosion of fragrant flavour. I also bought a butter chicken for my partner at home. Her only complaint was that I didn't buy any rice for her! With all that we bought - 3 mains (one was takeaway), onion bhaji, pilau rice, two naans and about 4 pints - it came to just under 70 quid plus tip (tip not included), which is not bloody bad if you ask me! The waiter that served us was very attentive, keeping our pints filled up and making sure we were enjoying our time there. There is also a pool table and a buzzing sports scene there too, though I did not get too involved in that as I was too taken by the food. Also, don't be deceived, while you do go below street level as you enter, it is not some sort of windowless basement. It actually backs onto the tube platform and you watch as the trains come and go - adding yet more intrigue to the already fantastic atmosphere. There's also an outdoor smoking area, away from the street if you're a smoker. Another thing that deserves a mention is the dips they provide with the popadums. Of course there's a raita, but instead of the lime pickle - which is usually take it or leave it for me - they provide some sort of mild chilli sauce. My goodness! That was something really special. I would try to describe it but it wouldn't express how exciting the sauce is. In fact, the sentiment of that last sentence could be applied to the entire experience! Do not waste time reading my review; go to The Arena and have a bloody great curry!"

"Took my dad in here for dinner. Excellent service, great tasting food. There is music, but not too loud. Sports are on in the background, and the place is a pub-restaurant crossover. Pretty much spot on in every department. Price was very good value, too. Recommended."
